Summit
Update - January 13, 2006
Barry McCabe, President of Hometown America
is the Keynote Speaker at the Manufactured
Housing Industry Summit, Wednesday January 18th
in Portland. Barry is president and chief
operating officer of Chicago based Hometown America
which he co-founded in 1997. With 136 manufactured
housing communities, 55,000 home sites and 165,000
residents in 19 states, privately owned Hometown
America has grown to become one of the nation’s
largest community operators. After serving the
industry as an attorney since 1977, Barry in 1981
became corporate counsel and then president of
DeAnza Assets, a California based firm that operated
manufactured housing and apartment communities
for its own account as well as for Merrill Lynch,
Hubbard and Metric Partners. Upon DeAnza’s
merger into Chicago based Manufactured Home Communities,
Inc. (MHC), currently Equity Lifestyle Properties
in 1994 he became MHC’s president and chief
operating officer before founding Hometown America
three years later. Barry is a vice chairman of
the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI), vice
chairman of the MHI Federal Government Relations
Committee and a Governing Board member of the
National Communities Council. He serves on the
Board of Directors of the Florida Manufactured
Housing Association (FMHA), the Legislative Committee
of the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association
(MMHA), and is former president of California’s
Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association
(WMA). He serves on the Manufactured Housing Advisory
Councils of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Barry
holds Bachelor and Masters degrees from Catholic
University of America, Washington, D.C. and a
Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern
California, Los Angeles. He is a California real
estate broker and a member of the California State
Bar.
Don Glisson Jr, CEO of Triad Financial Services,
Inc. of Jacksonville, Florida will be our featured
speaker. Triad is one of the nation’s
largest manufactured home lenders. I recently
heard Don speak at the Manufactured Housing Communities
International Networking Roundtable in Florida
and he is a great speaker with a compelling message
and valuable information to share relating to
manufactured home financing. The timing
couldn’t be better, as Triad is in the midst
of an aggressive expansion that includes the Pacific
Northwest. Simply put -- If you make your
living in manufactured housing you don’t
want to miss our Keynote Speaker Barry
McCabe of Hometown America
and our Featured Speaker Don Glisson Jr. of Triad
Financial Services.
